Helena Malvezzi
Helena Malvezzi, a biologist with a PhD in Health Sciences from the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil, is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Her research focuses on the immunology of endometriosis, looking at inflammation, oxidative stress and senescence. She is currently working on a structural biology project aimed at exploring the potential of inflammasomes in cells from patients with deep endometriosis.
Vasiliki Angelidi
Vasiliki comes from Greece and is currently carrying out her Master´s degree in Chemistry at Freie Universität Berlin. She has an orientation in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry but along the way she developed a big interest in structural Biochemistry and specifically in Cryo-electron Microscopy. As an intern at our facility, she is focusing in the development of in situ Cryo-electron Tomography protocols using E.coli mini cells and hopes to apply her experience in the future on other topics in the field.
Melika Moradifartkhoni
Melika is a Bachelor student in computer science, currently doing her internship at our facility. The aim of her project is focused on developing automated pre processing, reconstruction and archiving of electron tomograms. At the same time she is introduced to laboratory sample preparation as part of our workflow. She is excited to experience both the digital and practical part of our technology and is looking forward to further explore the cryo world.
Sielatchom Foyang Maryl Brandy
Sielatchom Foyang Maryl Brandy, is from Cameroon and has been living in Germany for 4 years. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics at Freie Universität Berlin. The goal of her internship is to implement a semi-automated pipeline for template matching based sub-tomogram. She is passionate about biological data analysis and wants to explore what data comes out of a cryo-electron microscope and how it can be analyzed.
Lia Ivanov
Lia Ivanov is from the Republic of Moldova and is currently doing an internship at our facility as part of her Masters in Biochemistry at Freie Universität Berlin. The focus of her internship is single-particle analysis, as well as the introduction to the general workflow such as the preparation of laboratory samples and the operation of the microscope. She is very enthusiastic about the many uses of cryo-electron microscopy and looks forward to becoming more familiar with cryo-electron tomography in the future.
